ABOUT

Teacher Story Project: A NoRth Dakota Study Group working group

We know that teachers are stewards of the future. They accompany young people finding their way in a changing, contradictory world; they seek to protect their dreams, tend their roots, and uplift their voices.  Yet teachers are met with pressure and criticism from parents, legislators, the media, and the general public. Vast numbers of teachers are working hard to support the critical learning -- and, too often, the lives -- of the students in their care, but they are often isolated, under-resourced, and disrespected.

The Teacher Story Project, a working group of the North Dakota Study Group, is dedicated to sharing teachers’ stories to build connection and power.  We aim for teachers to have more opportunities for informal exchange and learning with other teachers in different settings.  We are also committed to challenging the wider public, including parents, legislators, and members of the media, to broaden their understanding of the work that teachers do and the challenges and rewards of their work.  The stories are also a resource for the education and support of new and prospective teachers and for professional development.
